The day was December 2nd, 1999 when ID released what would tie everyone in our community together. 15 years ago this piece of software was released and sucked in thousands of gamers into the arena to battle it out with each other. Little did they know upon release it would spark a change in the gaming world bringing eSports into the primetime view of the masses. It also gave birth to this community of demo players and 1.16n standoffs forming a lifelong bond over the skill of a railgun and the finesse of a circle jump. Today we salute the game that we poured our heart and souls into, destroyed countless mice and mousepads on, upgraded video cards to get that magical 125fps or even destroyed videocards getting to 333fps. Thank you John Carmack for IDTech 3 powering the game, Graeme Devine and Tim Willits for the gothic design we loved, Adrian Carmack, Kevin Cloud and Paul Steed for those awesome textures we marveled at for so many years. Last but not least thank you Graeme Devine for getting it all together to make it the best fps for over a decade and the subject of our obsession for many, many years.
On behalf of o2o, what's left of the community and this broke ass website. Thank you for the wonderful 15 years of existence and happy birthday Quake 3 Arena!
