BF3  lived  up  to  every  expectation.   Back  2  Karkand  is  really  amazing  and  a  blast  to  play.   Singleplayer  campaign  is  not  even  close  to  what  multiplayer  is.   Don't  even  bother  with  the  singleplayer,  it's  that  bad.

The  fun  doesn't  end  there.   DICE  is  hinting  there  might  be  a  2143  DLC  as  well.

 Hello  to  everyone,

Been  playin  BF3  quite  some  through  the  holidays.
And  I  have  to  say,  I  am  severely  severely  severely  severely  severely  severely  (oops,  broken  record,  let  me  change  it)  very  very  disappointed.

I  have  no  idea  how  has  the  game  lived  up  to  expectations  for  you  Skap,  since  you've  played  BF2  through  and  through.  For  me,  it  just  lacks  too  much.

 Here's  a  short  list:

   -  There  is  no  in-game  VOIP  aka  chaos  in  every  game.  nobody  knows  what  to  do,  it's  basicly  CoD  MW2  all  over  again
   -  There  is  no  commander  in  game  -  again,  nobody  knows  what  to  do
   -  4  man  squads  suck  quite  a  lot  in  a  64  player  game.  6  is  the  right  way  to  go
   -  The  new  anti-air  system  they've  adopted  is  ridiculous
   -  hitting  a  chopper  or  a  jet  with  RPG/TANK  gets  "vehicle  disabled",  and  the  fucker  just  jumps  out  (  I  never  forget  to  wave  at  him  with  my  hankey  and  some  lead,  sadly,  to  no  effect  )
   -  commo-rose  is  quite  sh*t  tbh,  and  they  said  they'd  fix  it  in  febuary.  FEBUARY  ?  3  months  to  fix  a  commo-rose  ?  So  when  will  they  fix  the  hard-coded  controls,  that  alienate  my  keyboard  ?  in  2018  ?
   -  what  is  up  with  the  deploy  menu  ?  why  is  it  blue  ?  why  does  everybody  hate  it  and  nobody  is  doing  anything  about  it  ?
   -  why  dont  squad  leaders  have  more  roles  other  than  being  nobody,  like  they  are  now  ?
   -  why  are  the  maps  so  small  ?  They're  simply  too  chokepointy  and  overcrowded,  hence  jets  attack  heli's  and  they  are  basicly  useless

+  the  only  time  i've  really  enjoyed  this  game,  was  using  MG36  machinegun  (b2k  unlockable  gun)  and  placing  6  packs  of  c4  around  snipers  somewhere  in  the  hills,  then  running  into  their  faces,  doing  my  dance,  and  then  blowing  them  up  before  they  jump  up.

What  BF3  is,  as  I  gather,  is  a  rushed  game.  They  probably  (I'd  have  to  think  it's  EA,  not  DICE,  or  perhaps  both)  wanted  to  cut  into  MW3's  sales  badly,  so  they  thought,  that  they  could  easily  develop   a  new  engine  and  perfect  it  in  a  few  months.  ROFL.

What  actually  BF3's  BETA  was,  was  an  actual  Alpha.  And  what  current  game  is  -  is  a  BETA.  The  game  is  so  unfinished,  is  so  badly  thought  out,  and  is  missing  soooooo  many  key  features  from  previous  games,  that  made  battlefield  BATTLEFIELD,  it's  quite  a  joke,  when  they  keep  tweeting  and  telling  us  in  all  the  casts  that  they're  "going  to  keep  updating  and  supporting  the  game  well  after  the  launch"  (and  they  say  it  like  it's  purely  at  the  cost  of  their  free  time  and  comes  from  the  goodness  of  their  hearts).

Another  thing  -  the  head  studio  designer  should  be  shot  blank  range.  That  blue  waffle  deploy  menu  is  slowly,  but  increasingly  starting  to  give  cancer  to  people.  The  loading  screen  of  every  map  is  blue  sh*t  with  orange  stripes.  Yep.  Orange  +  Blue.  Old  marketing  trick,  except,  it's  so  overdone  in  BF3,  it's  actually  polite  to  vomit.
Minimap  is,  again,  a  flock  of  blue  sh*t,  you  cant  make  anything  out  of.  I  was  expecting  some  cool  map  management,  clickable  teammates  on  deploy  menu's  map  or  overall,  some  cool  map  management  with  detail,  but  what  I  got  was  another  well  roasted  blue  waffle.

And  what  is  up  with  the  colour  in  this  game  ?  Without  the  FXXA  color  injector,  the  game  looks  like  it  has  -80%  saturation  issue.  I  mean...What  the  actual  F  ?

The  only  maps  I  actually  enjoy  is  Karkand  and  Sharqi  Peninsula.  All  others  are  just  plain  sh*t.
Too  small,  too  crowded,  no  space  in  between  the  objectives.
And  have  you  seen  the  concept  art  for  Wake  Island  ?

Imagine  if  they  made  it  exactly  like  that,  but  only  in  a  tropical  and  nice  weather  ?  How  cool  would  that  be,  in  comparison  to  the  current  cluster  of  WTF.

Another  issue  to  me,  is  how  the  game  looks.  Im  slowly  starting  to  like  Frostbite  1.5  in  BC2  and  BF1943  more  than  this  Frostbite2  cr*p.  I  dont  know  why,  but  either  the  engine  is  not  finished,  or  they  just  took  some  bad  decisions  along  the  way.  In  BC2,  you  could  basicly  destroy  everything,  and  that  was  fine  by  me.  I  remember  playing  it  first  time  with  the  assault  class,  thinking  -  what  should  I  destroy  FIRST  ?  Sadly,  when  playing  BF3,  I  find  myself  questioning  myself  -  why  can't  i  destroy  this  ?  Why  doesn't  c4  blow  a  hole  in  a  wooden  fence  wall  @  Karkand's  F  flag  ?

Answers  to  all  the  WTF  questions  are  quite  simple,  IMO.  They've  released  the  game.  They've  supported  it  for  1st  month,  monitoring,  if  there  are  real  issues  with  it...Now  they're  all  on  holiday  (probably),  and  as  they've  said  -  they've  got  2  teams  -  a  development  team  (develops  new  magical  stuff),  and  a  technical  team  (fixes  currently  released  sh*t).  From  what  I  gather,  the  technical  team  is  very  scarce  in  numbers,  and  is  facepalming  themselves  at  the  current  situation  of  BF3  24/7,  seeing  no  solution.  And  the  development  team  only  develops  new  stuff,  they're  not  going  to  change  BF3  around  drasticly  for  nothing,  the  funding  has  to  come  from  somewhere.  The  only  way  they  get  funded,  is  if  there  is  an  expansion  announced...And  I  doubt  the  expansion  is  coming  anytime  soon.  And  however  different  to  the  original  game  the  expansion  may  be,  I  really  doubt  they're  going  to  change  the  "vehicle  disabled"  piece  of  ....  system  to  something  better.

It  is  quite  sad,  that  this  is  the  first  time  I  feel  this  so  accurately  to  the  definition  -  I'm  very  disappointed.

Mega  -  if  you've  got  2-4  mates  you  love  playing  games  with,  trust  me,  you'll  have  fun  in  BF3.  The  theme  of  my  rant  simply  is  -  you  wont  have  THAT  MUCH  OF  AMAZING  FUN,  which  you  could've  had,  if  it  actually  was  a  real  Battlefield  game.

There  have  been  a  few  interviews  with  Grant  Collier  (i  hope  i  got  the  name  right),  who  was  the  main  of  the  main  guys  behind  the  original  Cod  series  (cod1/cod2/cod4),  where  he  said  that  developers  often  get  "tunnel  vision",  while  developing  their  games,  which  basicly  means  that  they  get  into  what  they're  doing  so  much,  they  tend  to  lose  common  sense  and  overdevelop,  make  bad  decissions  and  take  bad  roads.

Excuse  my  bad  english  and  all  the  "overdevelop"  terms,  as  in  "overdevelop"  may  often  mean  something  amazing,  truely  great  games  come  from  that,  but  I  think  they've  "overdeveloped"  in  the  wrong  direction,  and  I  sense  that  at  their  current  state,  DICE  is  not  really  shy,  modest  nor  willing  to  look  at  themselves  from  our  perspective.  Somehow  it  feels  like  they  take  themselves  as  the  only  competitor  of  CoD,  and  they  want  to  go  toe  to  toe  with  IW  (what's  left  of  it).

What  essentially  BF3  was  supposed  to  be,  was  a  continuation  to  BF2.
I  really  liked  the  fact  that  Bad  Company's  gamestyle  was  different  to  original  BF,  and  the  fact  that  it  was  NAMED  differently,  because  it  was  a  different  game.  That  is  the  propper  thing  to  do.  If  you're  making  Orange  juice,  you  might  as  well  call  it  orange  juice.
What  they've  done  with  with  BF3,  is  that  they've  combined  a  bit  of  Apple  juice  (BF2)  with  a  lot  of  Orange  juice  (BC2),  and  they've  named  it  "100%  pure  freshly  squeezed  APPLE  JUICE".

I've  read  a  lot  of  people  "whine"  about  BF3  in  the  most  dedicated  and  most  detailed  ways,  where  they've  quoted  almost  every  interview  and  word  DICE  has  said.  Why  do  people  quote  so  much  ?  Because  they  feel  cheated.  Nothing  is  more  angering,  than  broken  promises.  "Whining"  is  not  really  a  fair  word  as  well,  they  have  a  right  to  do  this,  because  it's  those  people  that  brought  this  game  to  what  it  actually  is  today.  THey  were  the  main  advertisers  all  these  years.

BF3  is  not  a  successor  to  BF2,  it's  a  successor  to  BC2,  and  those,  who  said  it's  actually  Bad  Company  3  are  absolutely  right,  though  I  was  quite  sceptical  of  the  term  at  first.

It's  not  really  fair  to  blame  DICE  alone,  DICE  is  not  a  single  organ,  EA  has  to  do  with  most  of  uglyness  this  game  shines  as  well.  However  it  may  be,  DICE  consists  of  many  positions  in  itself(perhaps  those  positions  where  replaced  since  BF2),  and  those  positions  tend  to  make  mistakes  due  to  tunnel  vision,  or  perhaps,  sometimes...greed.

For  instance,  the  listen  server  issue.  Why  do  I  have  to  buy  a  server,  if  I  only  want  to  fly  around  in  the  map  with  some  jets  ?  I  bet  DICE  has  nothing  to  do  with  this,  it's  a  strategy  from  EA,  and  some  deals  made  with  server  providers,  just  like  CoD  did.

And  it's  all  over  the  table  like  that.  Look  at  what  they've  done  with  the  Commander's  abilities.  They've  dispersed  them  among  the  classes.  Now  Recons  have  UAV  abilities  aka  MAV,  Support  has  mortars  (which  are  useless  and  laughable),  etc.  etc.
And  why  are  mortars  laughable  ?  Because  a  single  mortar  cannot  be  effective,  since  OMG,  2  people  may  get  the  devil  in  them  to  use  2  morars,  which  will  be  just  mortar  spam  and  ownage.  That  would  be  total  imbalance,  leading   to  countless  cries  on  the  forums  and  death  threats  to  developers  at  DICE.  Which  means  -  mortars  are  useless,  when  single.  Isn't  that  a  laughable  decision  to  make  ?

And  why  was  this  decision  made,  overall  ?  They  use  all  kinds  of  fancy  terms   themselves,  when  they  want  to  cover  up  their  means,  but  the  simple  thing  is  -  they  want  the  gameplay  to  be  extremely  easy,  so  that  anybody  could  sit  down,  and  have  everything  at  their  fingertips.  Because  "oh  -  no",  you  actually  have  to  know  something  about  the  game  to  be  a  commander,  and  you  don't  often  get  to  be  one.  That's  a  total  no-no  for  them...

They're  taking  the  same  decisions  IW  did,  creating  CoD,  just  from  a  different  angle,  and  perhaps,  with  a  bit  of  a  different  attitude,  or  at  least  with  a  different  show-off-parade  for  it.  They're  trying  to  make  the  game  as  easy  to  play  as  possible,  so  that  it  would  appeal  to  a  wider  public.  Why  would  you  want  to  appeal  to  wider  public  ?  Because  you  want  more  money.  Simple  as  that.  They're  moving  away  from  public,  that  are  hardcore  and  like  challenges,  from  people,  that  are  patient  and  hard  working,  to  people,  who  are  ready  to  give  away  a  few   bucks  for  an  easy  pleasure,  to  people,  who  don't  notice  details  and  wrongs  in  games,  who  come  in  for  30  minutes  of  pleasure  into  the  game,  and  dont  touch  it  for  a  week  or  2.  That's  actually  what  BF3  is  being  tailored  to,  and  if  DICE  was  not  DICE  that  it  has  always  been,  EA  would  gorge  over  all  of  it,  and  make  it  all  happen  in  a  click.

So...what  essentially  this  duo  of  EA  and  DICE  is  doing,  is  using  common  sense,  logic,  numbers,  in  other  words  -  their  heads,  instead  of  hearts.  They're  litteraly  taking  the  best  of  BF2,  and  the  best  of  BC2,  and  mixing  that  together,  to  get  the  best  product  possible.  That's  where  they're  actually  wrong,  that's  where  the  tunnel  vision  kicks  in.  They're  so  busy  competing  with  CoD,  they're  trying  too  hard,  they've  even  reverted  to  lies,  fake  promises  and  those  "perhaps  and  ifs  -  nobody  knows  what  DLC  may  bring..."  to  fool  people.

To  me,  this  is  almost  as  big  as  the  Dedicated  server  issue  CoD:MW2  presented.  BF3  should've  been  BF2's  system  WITH  MORE  DEPTH  and  better  visuals.  That's  all.  What  we  got  was  actually  less  depth  in  a  totally  different  system  from  BF2.

Just  think  about  it  -  how  many  features  are  missing  ?
   -  battlerecorder
   -  VOIP
   -  in-game  menu  ?  (come  on  ?!)
   -  BF2's  map-vehicle-infantry  balance
   -  depth  ?

I'm  not  saying  BF2  did  not  have  issues,  but  it  was  an  all  round  better  game  than  BF3.  It's  so  clear  that  BF3  is  chasing  MW3,  it's  mind  boggling.

Take,  for  instance,  the  streets  ?  There  is  litterally   such  a  sh*t  storm  of  crap  lying  around  the  streets,  you  can't  drive  straight.
Why  has  that  decission  been  made  ?  So  that  the  infantry  would  have  an  easier  time  fighting  vehicles.
Vehicles  can't  chase  you  half  of  the  time,  because  there  is  a  huge  metal  tank-trap  object  in  the  way.  What  do  you  do  -  you  run  away,  then  come  back,  fire  your  RPG,  hide  again,  and  repeat  for  success.  It  works  so  well,  that  a  soldier  with  a  single  RPG  can  easily  kill  a  BTR-90  with  both  driver  and  co-driver,  furiously  shooting  at  him.  What  vehicles  usually  are,  is  sitting  ducks.
It's  so  easy  to  see  this  tendancy...Nobody  wants  to  be  a  sitting  duck/target.  So  people  often  revert  to  infantry  combat,  WHICH,  is  what  CoD  is.  There  you  have  it.

It  doesnt  have  in  every  game,  but  MY  GOD,  it's  actually  the  theme  of  this  game.  What  this   theme  should  be  instead,  is  -  USE  your  vehicle  to  fight  those  other  vehicles,  not  vice  versa.  That's  what  BATTLEFIELD  is.

Please  dont  get  me  wrong  -  BF3  is  still  a  great  game.  It's  so  much  better  than  MW3,  even  despite  all  the  bugs,  it's  so  much  less  frustrating.  Still  playable,  still  possible  to  have  fun,  if  you're  playing  with  your  friends.  It's  rightly  so  the  best  shooter  released  in  2011  (!!).  But  it's  not  the  best  FPS  there  is.  I'd  rather  revert  to  quake3  or  cod2  or  BF2  if  my  friends  played  these  games.  For  now  I'm  stuck  waiting.

And  what  is  there  to  await  for  ?  Knowing  DICE,  and  if  they  were  put  into  this  position  of  rushing  the  game,  they  actually  feel  guilty  about  it  somewhere  deep,  then...GOOD,  ye  ?  We  know  they've  supported  their  titles  nearly  till  the  end,  right  ?

That  means  that  they'll  be  releasing  some  kind  of  quality  DLC  pack   that  reverts  to  either  WW2,  with  those  magnificent  air  battles  and  tanking  (they're  actually  in  debt  to  PC  players,  since  they  havent  released  BF1943  on  PC),  or  a  DLC  that  reverts  to  anything  close  to  BF2.  What  I  hope  they  do,  is  release  mod  tools  after  all  the  DLC's  from  them  are  out.

THEN,  THEEEN  we  can  have  total  conversion  mod  to  BF2,  accurate  maps,  new  maps,  Project  reality,  new  vehicles  and  imagine  all  that  -  on  the  Frostbite  engine...Which  is..IF  they  make  the  decision  to  release  mod  tools,  which  would  be  a  direct  competitor  to  their  way  of  making  money.  Which  is...probable  ?

Please  excuse  my  ranting,  I  just  felt  like  writing  all  that  crap.  Hope  it's  out  of  my  system  now,  though  the  feeling  of  disappointment  is  still  there.

Cheers  to  people  who  read  !  Signing  out,  blue  deploy  menu  waffle.

Let  me  resume  all  of  this  :  consoles.  The  only  reason  BF3  failed  to  be  what  it  should  have  been  is  because  they  released  it  on  all  consoles.  I  sold  my  xbox,  and  I  started  playing  some  PC  exclusive  games.  I  am  done  with  console  games,  it's  not  healthy  to  play  those  games,  as  they  usually  lead  to  useless  raging.

What  we  need  is  a  game  which  is  almost  unknown,  which  lacks  the  publicity  those  big  companies  can  offer.  They  usually  offer  the  best  gaming  experience.  It  may  be  dumb  to  say,  but  we  need  a  game  where  there  is  a  huge  glitch  that  can  be  exploited.  Look  at  Counter-strike,  and  Quake;  Bunny  Hop  &  Strafe  jump.  Games  with  "game-breaking"  glitches  usually  makes  them  more  playable  for  the  hardcore  gamers.

Today's  games  are  dumbed  down  to  make  sure  they  have  less  bugs  to  worry  about.  By  releasing  it  on  multiple  consoles,  they  want  to  make  sure  they  get  the  most  money  out  of  it,  while  not  putting  much  efforts  into  it.

Saddening  to  see  the  Battlefield  is  going  down  the  same  way.
