Well  I  don't  know  where  to  begin  mostly  because  I  didn't  really  have  a  firm  beginning.  I  started  by  playing  quake  3  demo  as  a  benchmark  for  computer  builds.  I  would  load  up  a  demo  and  record  fps  rates  and  then  goof  around  in  a  online  server  for  a  while.  Eventually  I  discovered  I  really  like  playing  rail  freeze  and  somehow  found  myself  playing  it  a  few  times  a  week,  then  every  day,  then  all  the  dam  time.  I  would  never  really  use  the  same  name  just  go  by  random  stuff,  "glass",  "&",  "unnamedplayer".  As  time  passed  I  had  gotten  to  play  with  this  one  guy  a  lot  and  really  liked  his  style  of  playing  so  for  whatever  reason  I  decided  to  mimic  his  name  Supernoob  and  go  by  Meganoob.

As  I  played  more  I  got  better  and  eventually  I  started  to  get  requests  to  join  clans.  I  turned  them  all  down  until  eventually  I  broke  down  and  joined  one.  My  first  clan  was  And1,  some  guy  out  of  nowhere  asked  me  to  join  it,  why  not  I  didn't  have  any  reason  not  to  anymore.  We  had  a  few  matches  but  it  never  really  went  anywhere  so  I  stopped  wearing  the  tags  and  name.

At  this  point  I  was  knee  deep  into  the  demo  scene,  playing  on  100mit  and  out  of  nowhere  it  was  gone.  Going  through  withdrawals  at  this  point   was  searching  for  any  active  server  and  found  oNu(2).  I  played  often,  got  to  know  migs  and  Hicap  and  some  of  the  other  oNu's.  I  really  respected  them  until  I  found  out  Hawk  was  using  modified  .pak  files  to  hear  bells  for  footsteps.  This  crushed  me  as  I  admired  the  skills  he  had  and  then  found  out  about  cgame  and  scripting  railjumps,  180  turns,  and  my  competitive  nature  was  shattered  for  a  few  days.  Being  a  demo  only  player  I  though   we  were  on  all  equal  terms  and  here  I  was  the  noob  of  the  bunch.  It  started  something,  a  fire  that  I  could  be  just  as  good  without  the  tools  to  assist  me.  The  got  some  community  backlash  and  set  the  server  to  pure  mode  but  left  in  cgame.

Somehow  I  got  to  the  top  of  the  VSP  charts  for  oNu(2)  and  applied  to  oNu  hoping  they  see  my  skills  now  that  the  server  was  set  to  pure  mode.  I  was  shot  down  pretty  quick,  saying  it  was  a  slow  week  on  the  server  haha.  Unfazed  I  was  determined  to  get  in  when  they  started  to  recruit  players  like  thevillegenoob,  Godl1ke  and  turborailqueen.  Now  don't  get  me  wrong  they  are  great  players  but  it  started  some  inner  turmoil  in  the  what  seemed  as  a  rock  solid  group.  I  don't  know  what  the  deal  was  but  Godl1ke  left  oNu  and  created  something  called  o2o.  This  was  amazing  to  me,  A  guy  at  the  top  of  the  foodchain  left  to  make  something...  better?  Interested?  you  bet  I  was.  He  grabbed  up  some  grade  A  talent  too,  Jedi,  Asp!r!n  both  joined  him  and  proceeded  to  rock  some  matches.  So  of  course  I  ask  to  join  up  as  well,  but  I  got  denied.  They  were  going  for  AAA  status  and  I  was  at  best  AA.  For  a  few  solid  weeks  I  played  with  asp!r!n  asking  to  join  and  he  eventually  challenged  me  to  beat  him  in  1v1  for  the  spot.  My  hands  were  stupid  sweaty  that  match  but  some  how.  SOME  FUCKING  HOW.  I  beat  him,  by  1.  He  talked  with  godl1ke  and  they  must  have  come  to  an  agreement  and  let  me  in.  I'm  pretty  sure  Jedi  wasn't  pleased  me  being  a  noob  and  all  but  slowly  I  gained  their  trust  and  we  were  kicking  all  sorts  of  ass.  There  were  days  where  oNu  was  on  one  team  and  o2o  was  on  another  and  all  you  would  see  was  our  names  going  back  and  forth  for  1st  pace  the  whole  match.  Yes  they  always  somehow  ended  up  on  top  by  a  few  kills  but  dam  o2o  was  looking  good.  I  somehow  make  it  to  co-leader  as  godl1ke  dropped  off  to  focus  on  real  life  stuff  and  asp!r!n  took  the  helm.  More  ass  kicking,  we  play  lots  of  scrims  at  this  point,  my  girlfriend  hates  me  because  i'm  playing  this  stupid  jumping  game  so  much.  So  what  do  I  do?  I  get  her  to  play  it  too,  and  she  likes  it.  In  fact  shes  pretty  dam  good  after  I  kill  her  enough  times.  By  this  time  oNu(2)  is  long  gone  and  slackshack/dev1ance.net  is  the  new  TDM  king.  o2o  is  doing  really  well  and  were  playing  in  tourneys  I  even  make  it  in  the  opening  credits  of  a  quake  video  "Noghost  Revolution".

Real  life  is  knocking  on  my  door  and  I  start  to  use  o2o  as  a  training  ground  for  stuff.  Building  the  website  and  working  with  imaging  software  I  build  up  my  skills  and  slowly  faze  out  of  quake  but  never  leaving  the  community.  I  made  it  into  scrims  when  I  could  but  never  joined  in  any  wars/tourneys  as  my  skills  were  now  at  exceptional  levels  but  not  the  master  once  was.  I  watched  the  team  shift  and  change  over  the  years  but  somehow  the  core  was  always  the  same,  a  bunch  of  people  who  had  enormous  talent  but  always  kept  the  fun  aspect  intact.  My  legacy  is  keeping  the  memory  we  have  had  together  intact  because  we  have  poured  thousands  of  hours  into  this  game  and  community.  That's  not  something  I  can  let  go  of.

I  forgot  quite  a  bit  and  skipped  over  a  few  things  about  my  journey  but  it  all  ends  the  same.  I  played  the  game  without  cgame  for  as  long  as  I  could  before  I  caved  in  at  the  end.  It  didn't  even  make  me  a  better  player,  if  anything  it  made  me  lazy.  Somedays  I  think  about  picking  up  a  railgun  again  but  it  will  never  be  the  same.  If  I  ever  get  a  time  machine  you  can  bet  your  ass  i'm  going  back  and  loading  up  oNu(2)  in  the  quake  3  demo  for  some  frags.

Heh,  sometimes  I  wish  I  could  go  back  to  those  days  while  being  a  bit  older  and  more  knowledgeable  than  I  was  just  to  play  some  of  the  other  pros  that  still  existed.

By  the  way,  I  don't  mind  adding  more  folks  here  to  my  steam  account  if  anyone  is  ever  up  for  some  game.  Steam  has  a  lot  of  nice  cheap  sales  and  I  often  love  picking  up  on  them  when  I  see  things  that  are  just  a  total  steal.

I  really  enjoyed  reading  the  stories,  brings  back  old  times  lol.  Anyway,  It  got  me  to  share  my  reflections  on  the  past.

I  started  playing  the  demo  in  April  of  05,  the  first  server  I  found  was  MDK  clans,  it  was  usually  well  populated  and  I  liked  the  20  person  limit,  there  was  Texas  Hell  Freeze  but  Ill  get  to  that  in  a  minute.  MDK  server  would  frustrate  me  because  good  players  from  clans  loNu,  UE,  .o2o.  Etcused  to  always  be  playing  and  I  wanted  to  get
Texas  hell  freeze  was  a  disaster,  32  players  always  onand  I  actually  used  to  camp  this  server  alot  andlaugh  at  the  frustrations  of  others,  plus  there  was  always  this  really  good  player  who  would  camp,  used  fucked  up  names  and  use  the  visor  taunt  often  and  it  really  cracked  me  upand   I  would  play  along

I  didnt  really  play  for  clans  until  07  and  the  first  clan  I  tried  for  was  #1,  then  at  the  time  eRa  and  then  finally  here.  After  the  clan  disbanded  around  09  I  just  played  for  myself.  Playing  alot  of  a/w  on  pills  server  or  playing  1v1.  I  still  had  food  memories  of  the  scrimmages  with  other  clans  or  even  getting  Zeinth  from  eRa  to  camp  the  rocket  room  with  me.

Cannot  believe  I  found  this  just  browsing  some  old  Quake  3  stuff.  Good  to  see  some  familiar  faces  in  here.  It's  sad  we  cannot  go  back  to  all  the  good  times  over  again.  I  remember  joining  .o2o.  for  awhile,  leaving  -UE-.  Good  to  see  you  guys  still  rocking  it.  If  anyone  plays  quakelive,  feel  free  to  message  me  your  username  on  there.  I  would  tell  you  my  story,  but  I  do  not  have  enough  time  right  now.  Hope  to  see  some  replies  at  least.
