 With  Windows  Vista  being  released  yesterday  I  went  ahead  and  picked  up  Ultimate  Upgrade  and  im  currently  running  the  64bit  version.  So  far  its  loads  better  then  I  tested  over  the  years.  Im  really  happy  with  what  i  see  so  far.  Q3  on  vista  has  been  running  exactly  like  it  was  on  XP.  333fps  stable  So  I  havent  really  noticed  any  gaming  slowdowns.  The  only  thing  thats  not  working  is  my  webcam.  =/  Thats  logitech's  fault  tho.  basterds.  xD  Anyways  lets  kickoff  the  post  your  vista  screenshots  thread!

 You  know  you  want  to  post  up  all  of  your  vista  pwnage  here  dont  ya?  Ill  start  it  off:

 Hehe  the  first  screenshot  reminds  me  of  how  I  used  to  mess  with  XP  when  it  came  to  the  desktop  and  how  I  actually  at  one  time  made  my  desktop  view  inside  that  of  a  3d  globe  where  I  could  do  a  360  to  check  out  all  the  aps  I  had  loaded  all  around  me.  It  was  soo  sweet.  Surprised

 Ppl  said  that  this  very  late  product  is  not  worth  buying.  And  what  should  my  specs  be  for  this,  I  heard  it  required  pretty  much.  And  does  update  remove  your  previous  data  on  XP?  So  many  ?'s

 Fuck  you  Mega.   I  installed  it,  but  56%  completed  in  the  "completing  upgrade"  part  my  computer  restarted  and  a  windows  boot  error  came  up  and  told  me  to  repair  it,  which  I  did,  but  it  never  fixed  it.  Sad   Confused

       *  1  GHz  32-bit  (x86)  or  64-bit  (x64)  processor¹).
       *  1  GB  of  system  memory.
       *  Support  for  DirectX  9  graphics  with  a  WDDM  driver,  128  MB  of  graphics  memory  (minimum)²,  Pixel  Shader  2.0  and  32  bits  per  pixel.
       *  40  GB  of  hard  drive  capacity  with  15  GB  free  space.
       *  DVD-ROM  Drive³.
       *  Audio  output  capability.
       *  Internet  access  capability.

 That  is  for  Vista  Home  Premium.

 If  you  are  running  Windows  Media  edition  or  Home  service  pack  2  you  just  need  to  buy  the  upgrade  and  it  saves  all  your  settings  and  files.   If  you  are  running  a  different  version  you  have  to  backup  your  shit  and  buy  the  clean  install  version  of  it.

 This  is  the  same  thing  everyone  said  when  going  from  windows  98  to  XP.  (just  about  everyone  skipped  M.E.)  Of  course  a  new  OS  is  going  to  take  more  system  specs.  Why  would  you  want  to  run  a  new  OS  on  old  hardware?  try  running  OSX  on  the  firstgen  Imacs.  It  wont  happen.  Above  all  vista  brings  a  few  things  ive  been  looking  foward  too.

 More  ram.  you  can  have  up  to  128GB(ultimate,  biz)  of  ram  now.  xp  was  4Gb  but  only  2  was  really  useful.

 Better  Networking  code.  They  really  improved  the  preformance  of  multipul  connections  to  the  internet.  what  does  that  mean  for  me?  faster  bittorrent  downloads.  I  can  now  have  more  connections  then  on  XP  would  allow  me  to  better  my  speeds.

 Native  64bit  support.  Its  about  time  that  we  get  a  true  64bit  OS.  XP64  was  a  nice  try  but  no  driver  support  for  it  really  killed  it.  With  vista  games  HAVE  to  supoport  64bit  to  get  that  little  games  for  vista  logo  sticker.  Not  only  about  games  tho  being  able  to  crunch  64bit  code  will  increase  speeds  of  apps  that  effecently  use  them  compared  to  the  same  32bit  ones.

 Multicore  support.  again  a  no  brainer,  Im  we  can  finally  have  a  os  that  balances  apps  across  all  cores  now  instead  of  relying  on  core1  and  pushing  the  overflow  to  the  2nd  or  more  cores  after  that.  Now  vista  will  actually  assign  diffrent  threads  to  a  core  based  on  usage.

 Gaming.  Windows  has  always  been  the  gamers  choice  for  the  latest  and  greatest.  Im  not  going  to  pass  up  Crysis,  Alan  Wake,  Alone  in  the  Dark  and  other  killer  games  coiming  out  this  year.  Ati's  drivers  for  vista  arnt  all  that  bad  compared  to  Nvidia.  Yea  they  arnt  as  good  as  XP  right  now  on  some  games  but  its  also  a  whole  new  codebase  for  them  to  build  the  drivers  from.

 Overall  we  can  expect  to  see  some  great  things  coming  from  vista  in  the  next  few  years.  nobodys  forceing  you  to  upgrade  to  vista  you  could  always  go  mac  or  *nix.  I  suggest  you  try  it  out  for  a  week  or  so  then  give  your  verdict  on  it  tho.  Its  really  a  shame  so  many  poeple  are  dogging  it.

 Screen  shots  look  nice,  I'm  still  testing  it  on  a  server  I  have  so  far  I'm  not  convinced  that  everyone  should  go  out  and  buy  it  just  yet.  But  if  you  have  money  to  waste  and  nothing  mission  critical  then..I  guess  I  will  say  that  some  things  are  cool  with  it.  I  think  MS  should  of  released  a  Release  canidate  for  XP  with  some  of  these  features  instead  of  begging  people  to  buy  another  O/S  -->Vista..Nothing  is  wrong  with  XP.

 bittorent  speed  has  nothing  to  do  with  your  O/S..

 ISP's  are  packet  shaping  bandwidth  from  your  demarcation  point  which  has  everything  to  do  with  bittorent.

   Very Happy

 not  my  isp  Wink  im  on  fiber  so  it  would  cause  them  to  degrade  the  service  of  my  line  to  transfer  the  signal  to  copper  back  to  fiber  for  them  to  packet  sniff.  its  pretty  much  fiber  all  the  way  to  the  backbone  for  me.  Thats  why  I  can  see  the  increase  of  the  netcode  in  vista  Wink  I  like  to  have  150  half  open  connections  and  about  80  connections  per  torrent  max.  Xp  was  limitimg  this  severly  to  50  half  open  connections.  I  had  to  modify  the  tcpip.sys  to  handle  my  connection.

 in  non  nerd  talk...  windows  had  to  reduce  the  #  of  connections  in  XP  because  of  virimakers  taking  advantage  of  it.  In  vista  those  methods  arnt  available  anymore  so  they  were  able  to  allow  more  hlaf  open  connections.  Which  means  i  can  transfer  files  with  more  poeple  at  once  which  gives  me  greater  BT  speed.

 and  for  those  who  DO  have  ISP's  packet  sniffing  use  µtorrent  to  encrypt  your  packets  and  dont  use  the  default  ports(27050  is  my  personal  fav).  Dont  forget  to  port  foward  your  router  and  there  ya  go  regular  speeds  once  again  ^-^
