Quick  Note:  This  is  alittle  something  I  composed  back  in  12th  grade  I  believe  that  I  thought  happened  to  be  an  interesting  story  for  a  poem.  Forgot  I  had  kept  it  because  I  thought  it  was  cool.  It's  suppose  to  be  a  new  character  for  the  Cantebury  Tales  if  you  happen  to  know  what  the  story  is  about.  Razz

 Mercenary

There  was  a  Mercenary  in  the  party,
Who  was  always  very  absent  and  very  tardy.
He  would  leave  the  group  wandering  off  on  his  own,
Looking  for  jobs  and  hoping  to  offer  a  loan.
He  had  a  black  eye  patch  over  his  left  eye.
A  scar  he  hid  with  his  patch,  he  wouldn’t  lie.
He  had  all  the  latest  merchandise  he  would  ever  need.
All  the  gold  he  possessed,  many  mouths  it  could  feed.
This  Mercenary  was  strong,  brave,  and  very  calm  and  settle.
He  could  participate  in  the  Olympics  and  even  win  the  gold  medal.
Always  wearing  chainmail  stronger  than  any  metal  known.
So  strong  it  was,  it  couldn’t  be  pierced  to  the  bone.
This  Mercenary  has  had  much  experience  in  his  life.
He  could  wield  any  weapon,  even  a  dagger  or  a  knife.
Fought  he  did  in  many  battles  and  many  wars.
Across  meadows,  valleys,  sea,  and  even  beach  shores.
Before  he  was  just  a  Mercenary,  England’s  army  he  was  forced  to  enlist.
The  boy  was  only  thirteen;  such  a  system  in  the  U.S.  today  did  not  exist.
His  brother  he  met  while  at  the  King’s  Castle,
Already  popular,  rich,  and  quite  a  vassal.
The  king  regarded  his  brother  as  Captain  and  Advisor.
No  man  like  him  could  command  or  be  the  wiser.
The  boy  always  looked  up  to  his  brother  for  help,
Because  to  him,  he  was  nothing  but  a  poor  helpless  whelp.
As  a  boy  in  the  army,  he  and  his  brother  joined  the  crusades.
This  battle  had  been  dragging  on  for  years  and  possibly  decades.
Many  times  his  brother  would  lead  him  and  his  men  into  fights.
Sometimes  these  battles  would  go  on  lasting  for  days  and  nights.
Many  people  died  during  these  very  long  years  of  war.
However  his  brother’s  men  always  got  the  higher  score.
Sometimes  when  the  boy  got  into  a  fight,
He  would  be  overwhelmed  and  full  of  fright.
But  when  the  boy  was  paralyzed  by  fear  and  caught  off  guard,
His  brother  would  save  him  and  bring  the  enemy  down  hard.
One  day  while  out  in  the  battlefield  however,
His  brother  was  caught  in  a  big  endeavor.
His  foe  was  that  of  his  rank  and  just  as  clever.
Never  had  his  brother  fought  someone  like  this  ever.
In  the  end,  the  boy’s  brother  was  overtaken  and  killed.
His  army  panicked  and  fled  with  the  fear  they  were  filled.
After  the  boy  had  saw  and  witnessed  his  brother’s  death,
He  was  forced  to  flee,  weeping,  and  unable  to  catch  his  breath.
When  the  crusades  were  over,  all  of  the  troops  disbanded.
The  boy  became  a  Mercenary,  for  a  pay  he  would  be  commanded.
He  had  learned  lots  from  his  brother  and  the  crusades.
Using  this  knowledge,  all  dangers  he  could  now  evade.
