 A little update The quiet days of spring are upon us and our activity has been under question but don't fret .o2o. are still very much here just some of us have become busy with things. Quake Live  Recently at GDC '08 id Software announced that the newest “Quake Zero” project would now be called Quake Live. Quake Live is a free browser based game that offers stat tracking, tournaments, matchmaking and other features all for free. This game will be kept free with the use of in game ads and banners. "id Software is among the proverbial godfathers of modern gaming and we are thrilled to be working with them on their first title in our 'freemium' category," said Justin Townsend, CEO of IGA Worldwide. "This partnership is only the latest testament to the increasing acceptance of in-game as an effective, measurable advertising medium and a strategic revenue opportunity for publishers and developers." The engine looks to be using a modified Tech 3 engine (Quake 3) that we all know and love. I’m curious to see how they pull this browser based game off because I know many browsers tend to take up a bit of ram. I’ve personally seen my own system get upwards of 150MB of ram taken with just a few tabs open over time. Throw in a full 3d game and that overhead could cause issues with some players on older systems. To try and get a piece of the action before anyone else point your browsers to www.quakelive.com/ and get in on the beta before it begins. I will post more info as it becomes available. Also we have added full members since our last update sorry for the delay with the news..
