One thing that would have been nice for the noghost scoreboard that is seen in the nemesis scoreboard is the server name. Kind of would help to know where the screenshots came from after all. Smile

Lol Think It's time to face that we're holding on to a game that is slowly dying. I only know of Pills 2k9 H$ and VZX server everything else is empty, not even any good CTF servers.

The reluctance of people to play in auth servers shows the truth that people are afraid to f2 big time.. nothing else.

I know most of us despise demo players and their ridiculous
rate@3000 and snaps@20 & maxpackets@30 which makes them lag and un-hitable.. whats sick is the players with full trying to mimic demo players with 3000(client less) to 5000 rate and 20(client less)30 snaps(client) etc .. and failing miserably..

My goal was to find auth strict servers that are busy.. And as I thought there aren't any.. We tried in the past and found out quick that as I said before, players in 1.16 are chicken to play even close to the fair line of compromise.. Sad really.. When so many 1.16 players go on how PRO they are..it's a joke in many eyes how weak 1.16 has become...

I was in a public yesterday and another noob with 30 ping changed his settings to 3000/20/40:1 and I loled..

I was like, man this kid is so lame and to top it off he was terrible. I watched like 5 or 6 people chasing him around the map all shooting at him and missing in tandem..when he finally got hit, Everyone loled and he was like "I'm so pro you noobs! See how I evaded you all, I'm so great and 1.32 is where the pros are" Rubbish yes!

I see on average over 1/2 of the players in public just lagging whether by downloading while playing of just pure ignorance... Maybe time for the max_ping cmd once again.

I begged mav to update the mod the drop 3000 rate and make the new low 8000 and snaps 30 minimum without the use of the client as a limiter, cause most of these noobs will do anything not to use the client..or complain that they prefer the hackers choice in Nemesis, so all demo users are getting away with more that just lag bombs.

24/slot+ 1.16 @ the public level is lame duck fragging.

As always if you know of a busy servers post'em//
1. Also beg mav to release his .DLL if you ever talk to him
2. Ask him to remove unlagged /delag code completely from any further builds and/or offer same build but without the unlagged code.

In all seriousness, all I find in this community is frustration.   A lot of what tog said holds great merit.   The saddest part of the reality is what he noted about players with full q3 emultating these demo players with their shitty connection settings.

I have a great example from last evening @ 2k9 Texas - I was actually enjoying myself a lot (which is saying something considering I generally get bored 5 minutes after joining a q3 game these days).   Then Fatey arrives (30 ping, 3000 rate, 30 maxpackets, 20 snaps).   He keeps ghosting through people shooting him and within 2 or 3 minutes half of my team had d/c (we started with 9 or 10 people).   The sad part is you are left with the choice of dealing with these players or doing as Wolf said; going to an authenticated server and playing a bot for 25 rounds because nobody else seems to ever connect.   On a partially related note, I would hope no players like these are in clans - it should be a pretty normal practice to require your players to use legit settings (I honestly don't care what your geographic location is or how slow your isp is - nobody is on dial up these days).

Speaking from my experiences with Desire so far, the only time anyone connects in significant #'s is when people go above and beyond and reach out to players on xfire to organize a PUG.   It doesn't sound like much work, but when people just want to get on a server and frag a few people most cannot be bothered to organize such a thing (personally, I've gotten lazy when it comes to community-related events).   People just need to start hanging out on the few authenticated servers we do have, sit in spec if you must for a bit.   What I used to suggest is join a server with a buddy, it only takes one.   Play a game or two and generally some people start to pop on, especially if you have many friends on xfire and your status shows the server you are on.

Otherwise, we all have one choice at this point:

1) Accept the fact there will always be a handful of people on servers who skip and are probably able to correct the problem but simply refuse.

or

2) Move onto a different form of fragging, after all this game is starting to really get up there in years.

Those are the only real choices I see beyond people making a habit of hanging out at the "safer" servers.   Although I'm not entirely sure how much of a difference it makes that Noghost strict forces people to use at least 5,000 rate for example (not sure if that's the exact minimum, I forget).   But it's a step in the right direction at least.

Anyway..

I do believe sketch has the equivalent of dial up. it's not "dial up" but his max d/l is 56 kb/s. Surprised

Also, setting up a home server really isn't that hard if you want one in your "backyard" :P (I do this for cpma, as the closest server to me I ping around 90...) just make sure you have enough bandwidth so people one state away don't have 200 ping.
