This  is  the  same  thing  everyone  said  when  going  from  windows  98  to  XP.  (just  about  everyone  skipped  M.E.)  Of  course  a  new  OS  is  going  to  take  more  system  specs.  Why  would  you  want  to  run  a  new  OS  on  old  hardware?  try  running  OSX  on  the  firstgen  Imacs.  It  wont  happen.  Above  all  vista  brings  a  few  things  ive  been  looking  foward  too.

I  understand  that  every  newer  soft.  requires  better  specs,  but  this  is  bit  too  big  jump  for  me.  Only  15%  of  people  in  the  world  can  run  it  and  I'm  not  one  of  them.  And  I  don't  see  any  reason  why  should  I  update  my  hardware  like  till  2008  lol  since  I'm  not  a  gamer  or  nor  do  I  use  computers  in  my  everyday  life.  I  don't  need  fancy  computer  just  to  run  quake   Twisted Evil

All  I  see  is  more  ram  and  a  better  vid  card  and  you  should  run  it  fine.  Even  XP  likes  to  have  1GB  of  ram.  Other  then  that  you  have  the  nessary  specs  to  run  vista.

Your  right  tho,  if  you  only  play  q3  and  do  minimal  computer  tasks  then  vista  might  not  be  right  for  you.  Well  at  least  currently,  it's  always  the  early  adopters  who  push  technology  foward.  Basicly  they  test  out  the  new  stuff  so  that  when  they  become  mainstream  most  of  the  bugs  are  already  worked  out.  Im  one  of  those  nerds  xD  I  just  love  having  the  newest  piece  of  human  crafted  technology  to  tinker  with.

If  you  ever  do  get  the  itch  to  play  with  vista  you  can  count  on  me  to  offer  my  experiances  to  help  you  through  any  bumps  on  your  way.

All  I  know  is  the  first  thing  I'm  doing  when  I  get  Vista  installed  is  disabling  that  god  forsaken  UAC.   That  thing  drives  me  crazy.

Microsoft  developed  Vista  to  last  for  a  long  period  of  time.  It  was  in  their  intentions  to  make  it  hard  to  run  on  most  computers  these  days.  They'd  rather  have  something  that  will  last  for  a  long  time  to  come,  instead  of  something  that  people  can  run  now  but  will  become  obsolete  in  the  near  future.
