 Schools  in  the  area:
 PS  89  (K-5)  (201  Warren  Street)
PS  234  -  Independence  School  (292  Greenwich  Street)
 PS  150  (K-5)  (334  Greenwich  Street)

 Highschools/intermediate:
John  V.  Lindsay  Wildcat  Academy  Charter  School  (17  Battery  Place)
 IS  289  (201  Warren  Street)
Stuyvesant  High  School  (345  Chambers  Street)

 Stuyvesant  (345  Chambers)

Stuyvesant  High  School,  located  at  345  Chambers  Street  is  part  of  the  New  York  City  Public  School  System.   It  was  the  first  site  in  the  public  school  system  to  be  recognized  by  the  President's  Commission  on  Excellence  as  one  of  the  best  schools  in  the  country.   Many  of  the  students  who  attend  volunteer  in  servicing  the  community  by  helping  the  homeless,  disadvantaged,  sick  and  elderly.   Graduates  from  Stuyvesant  High  School  continue  to  triumph  over  any  other  school  in  the  state  or  city  for  academic  scholarships.

 New  Amsterdam  Library

New  Amsterdam  Library  is  located  at  9  Murray  Street  in  downtown  Manhattan.   It  resides  one  block  west  of  City  Hall  and  is  easily  accessible  by  the  2,  3,  N,  R  that  are  within  a  block  –  a  block  and  a  half.   Although  the  New  Amsterdam  Library  is  small,  it  still  offers  a  wide  variety  of  programs  and  services  for  people  of  all  ages  and  disabilities  (free  reading  classes  for  the  illiterate  and  tours  of  the  library  for  teens  for  example).

 NYU  Downtown  Hospital

NYU  Downtown  Hospital  is  located  at  170  William  Street  and  is  the  only  hospital  serving  Lower  Manhattan.   Being  only  a  few  blocks  away  from  Ground  Zero,  NYU  Downtown  Hospital  was  the  first  to  respond  to  the  September  11th  terrorist  attacks.   An  ordinary  day  of  serving  around  an  average  of  100  people  turned  into  a  day  of  turmoil,  serving  approximately  1,500  injured  people  during  the  attacks  and  their  aftermath.   Since  then,  NYU  Downtown  hospital  has  received  numerous  grants,  expanding  their  hospital  and,  more  recently,  establishing  a  new  $25  million  emergency  room  to  serve  all  of  Lower  Manhattan  more  efficiently.

 St.  Paul's  Chapel

St.  Paul's  Chapel  was  established  in  1766  at  Church  St.  between  Fulton  St.  and  Vesey  St.   In  1989,  the  parish  of  Trinity  Church  established  a  transitional  shelter  in  the  balcony  of  St.  Paul's  chapel,  offering  housing  and  life-skills  training  for  up  to  ten  male  residents  for  six  to  nine  months.  Being  directly  across  the  street  from  the  WTC,  St.  Paul's  played  a  significant  role:   from  sheltering  many  of  the  rescue  workers  that  were  searching  through  the  ruins  of  the  WTC,  to  conducting  memorial  services.
