Okay i've gotten to the point where im pissed off now. My ping is still 600+ and i dont know how to fix a connection. So all u smarties please help me fix my connection and maybe u'll be seein me around in the arena.

Tried (in q3) cl_maxpackets 100
cl_packetdup 1
snaps 40
rate 25000

use this cmd
"tracert" xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - IP to server where u have 600+ping but do not write :29600 i mean do not write port :P

and look on what station (number or server name) ur ping rise to this anomaly value.. if u have 500+ ping on 1st (on start) station there is something bad with Ur PC if ur ping is good UP to some point then.. u can do nothing :P just w8

You might have alot of horrible spyware or possibly even a virus on your computer thats stealing your bandwith... Perhaps I could share a program with you that I use to keep my computer clean of any spyware intrusions. Usually can sometimes even find viruses if your lucky.. It is a pretty nice piece of software called Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. I have to admit that out of all the spyware removers I have used, this one seems to do the best and is always updated every few days.

By the way, make sure your com_maxfps isn't set too high if your running on a very bad graphics card or else it will lag you considerably.. Although I doubt that could be the actual problem..

I don't think his problem is spyware or viruses because it is the same computer you used before you moved right? If it isn't well then maybe it is. I just have one thing to say to you Kik, AD-AWARE SUCKS XOFTSPY FTW!!!!!!

problem can be when u play using GSM from ur moblie phone for connect to internet.. so yea 14.4 kB/s + lots of spywares ad-aware malware worms trojans and including download porn.. hmmm 600 ping is very good ping then :P

Oh wait.. you aren't using a wireless card are you? Because if you're getting a really bad signal where you're at, then you might want to find a better position for your computer. At times mine can have that problem.. Not to mention being next to the subwoofer can cause interference. Hell.. even if my signal is yellow and not green which means I only get like 20 to 30% signal strength, my internet gets cut down pretty badly.. Much slower loading times and such.. Have to keep it in the green like 40% and above for me to get enough bandwith for cable. And even if my signal is green, there are times when the atmosphere can be most unfavoritable and can still screw with your transfer (Tx) rate by cutting it in half.

I have satellite internet and i have been told it is the connection with my computer that is wrong by many q3 players. This is a different computer and different internet provider than last time. Computer is an Emachines (like the last 1) and is fairly new.. Windows XP. Also, this is NOT my computer it is my grandparents and if i screw it up in any way...... I also live in the middle of nowhere.

satelite internet... hmmm arent this stuff use simple modem to send bytes..? i mean upstream.. bitrate?
